New Moon in Cancer

Cancer is a sign that calls our attention to our emotional experiences, emotional expression, caregiving, and sense of belonging. The Moon rules Cancer, adding weight to what we are feeling, our sense of emotional safety, our intuitive process, our attunement to our inner rhythms, and our pursuit of true connection.

When the Moon and Sun come together in the same sign, the nature of that sign influences how we approach our feelings and our purpose. This is a time to lean into our feelings and to name them.  Using one or two words to name our emotional experiences brings clarity to how we understand,  express, and process them.

This is a time to review all aspects of our lives  - work, relationships, health, self-worth, finances, communication, meaning, service - and assess what resonates emotionally and supports our goals and purpose, and what needs our attention. This review and reflection is particularly important if life has demanded that our focus be turned to others. We can bring our intentions to making time for ourselves and consciously connecting with how we are truly feeling about our lives.

We might enthusiastically celebrate areas of growth and alignment and gently approach areas that have been neglected, abandoned, or denied. Transformation will not likely happen overnight, but we can resolve to choose an area where change is needed and create one small step to address it.

This is self-care. Not the surface level self-care that comes from pampering ourselves, but the kind that begins a healing process.

Reflections:

  • Do you allow yourself to feel uncomfortable emotions? Can you name them? What do you think you can learn from them?

  • What area(s) of your life do you feel good about?

  • What is one area you can choose to intentionally create steps that will make it more satisfying?

  • Can you devote a small time each day to connecting with your feelings?
