New Moon in Libra

Each zodiac sign asks us to examine different aspects of our being and asks if there is room for growth there. This New Moon gives us an opportunity to think about themes that live in Libra’s realm: fairness, diplomacy, connection, perspective, cooperation, and balance.

All of these topics can fall under the umbrella of relationships. And it applies to any kind of relationship. 

We all want to connect, belong, and be seen for who we really are. Libra gives us the tools to pursue this desire. But we have to be discriminating about our choices and realistic about our expectations. Not everyone has the capacity to give us what we need. Not every group will help us live our best life. We need some time to assess the object of our desire before we put effort into a building connection.

Libra’s primary lesson is to give equal weight to our own worth and as well as that of the other - to balance the scales. Authentic connection requires Libra’s gifts. We need to listen to other perspectives, diplomatically express our truth, and cooperate to establish a harmonious and authentic connection. 

If the overall pattern of any of these aspects of connection falls out of balance and we lose harmony, we try to course correct. But, beware of Libra’s trap. Too often, we silence our own perspective, needs, and dreams to keep the peace. We may even get caught up in perfectionism in an effort to regain approval. On the other hand, we may rail against the unfairness of the situation and discard a relationship that still holds potential. At our best, we use Libra’s gifts to seek mutuality.  

Let’s take this occasion of a Libra New Moon to set an intention to notice where in our relationships things feel out of balance.
